But like everything else in this world, things are only good in moderation. i cant help but to sometimes wish things weren't as advanced as they are. But i feel like writing so i'll try not to sit here for long. i've got a sewing project to complete, books to read, movies to watch and people to catch up with.
Lately i've been feeding my brain with the following:
- The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon - I enjoyed this book, it was brilliantly written. Christopher definitely caught my attention with how his mind works around mathematical equations and logic. And when the character lost me the author filled in the gaps. However, I must admit that Sam's Story by Elmo Jayawardena wins me over this one.
"Prime numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical, but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them." — Mark Haddon
- Legion - As soon as i stepped out of that dark hall, my brother asked me the same question he'd ask me every time we'd finish a movie "1 to 10, what do you think?" and i told him "1 & 1/2, only because Michael was cute". I was left more disappointed than i had had anticipated. I really don't know what i was expecting when i first saw the trailer. I guess just mere curiousity of how else Hollywood predicts the end of days. Possibly also the fact Lucas Black was playing as I was a fan of the TV series American Gothic during my younger teen days, but even back then it was the Sheriff who caught my attention.
- Inglourious Basterds - I may turn away during the gory scenes but i just cant say no to a Quentin Tarantino movie. And this one was bold, manipulative and even disturbing but that's just Quentin. He balances it with a fairly well twisted plot, a hint of sophistication and some humour. Brad Pitt on the other hand has some bad acting tricks up his sleeve. Such a shame. It was entertaining but at the end of the movie i couldn't help but to feel like it fell within the catagory of a Jewish revenge fantasy.
- Sherlock Holmes - There's something about Robert Downey Jr ever since he bounced back to the scene. He's become such a delight to watch. Talented, sexy and you've got to love the wit and cunning sense of humour he puts into his characters. I'm happy that Doyle's works are still pending on my book list. As i'm pretty sure if i had read them (books), this movie might not have entertained me as much as i'd like it to. The Da Vinci Code movie being the best example of a let down after having read the book first. The movie is no masterpiece but quite entertaining.
- The Private Lives of Pippa Lee - When i picked this up from the shelf and read the synopsis, i looked forward to watching it. I saw faces i liked and a light storyline i could follow. But as the movie got going i saw potential which made me want more from this movie but left me with missing pieces. I googled Pippa, and found out about the book but after the reviews i don't really know if i should give it a read or just let it be. Excuse my soft porn but i find Keanu and cougars a delightfully sexy combination.

- Rock n Rolla - Ahhhh.. another Guy Ritchie film for me. Ritchie plays his territory (again). A relatively amusing movie you can just sit back, relax and watch. Guns, gangs and eye candy One Two, Gerard Butler. A little bit of homo love but i guess it's the psychotic druggie Johnny Quid that freshened it up a bit for me this time.
Well it's late, apparently i spent more time blogging than i intended too (again, as usual :P). I might be a month late but best wishes for 2010 to everyone. Like everyone else, i too have plans to get the best out of this year.
xoxo.
